Hi! Thanks for visiting my site.
I’m Michael Griffiths, a recently graduated college student from Skidmore College. During my time at Skidmore, I designed my own major in “Epistemology of the Social Sciences.” The grandiose title aside, I devoted my time at college to studying the quality and reliability of knowledge.
I plan continue my study of both knowledge and thought, and bring those insights to work. I’m currently looking for employment.
Inscitia.com
The name of this site – inscitia – is something I came up with when I first created the site, before I went to college. It’s Latin for ignorance; specifically, “unskilled.” The tagline – “Frantically Fleeing Ignorance” – is my statement of purpose for both the site and my life.
The point of the name is to remind myself that I am ignorant of many things, and that I must always strive to learn more. The most pernicious aspect of ignorance is that you do not know what you are ignorant of – hence Einstein’s famous quote, “The more I learn, the more I realize I don’t know.” Hence, to avoid the problem of thinking I know something merely because I don’t know differently, I claim ignorance – and search for ways to reduce it.
